Smoke, Springs & Show-Stopping Doors: August at Davis Garage Doors

August definitely didn’t take it easy on us.

August was a smoky one in Central Washington, but the Davis Garage Doors crew kept rolling! From high-lift installs and tricky spring repairs to shed doors and some seriously good-looking Garaga doors, Josh and Jenni stayed busy making sure no garage door problem was too big, too small, or too complicated. We’re heading into another month proud of another month of hard work, great customers, and plenty of doors going up and down exactly like they should.

September may be here, but August gave us plenty worth looking back on!

Where There’s Smoke, There Are Garage Doors

Wildfire smoke made its way into the valley this August, but it didn’t slow the Davis Garage Doors crew down.

Josh and Jenni masked up and kept working through the smoky conditions to finish up jobs for our customers. Not exactly ideal garage door weather, but around here, you work with what Central Washington gives you!

Taking Things a Little Higher in Ellensburg

One of the highlights of the month was this awesome high-lift garage door project right here in Ellensburg.

High-lift tracks allow the doors to travel farther up the wall before turning overhead, which makes better use of the space above the opening. Josh and Jenni did a fantastic job getting everything installed and tucked up where it needed to go.

Working in wildfire smoke certainly added another challenge to the job, but seeing the finished project made it worth it..

Jenni vs. The Garage Door

This service call gave Jenni a little bit of everything.

A TorqueMaster spring needed service, the opener chain had completely come off the motor and the gears inside needed some attention too. Instead of letting the garage door win, Jenni rebuilt the gears in the motor, got the chain back where it belonged and replaced the springs.

By the time she was done, the door was back up and running like it should.

Garage door: 0. Jenni: 1.

No Door Too Small

Not every job has to be a giant commercial door or complicated high-lift installation.

Josh and Jenni also got to help out their good friends, the Armstrongs, with a new garage door for their shed this month. It may be one of the smaller doors we worked on in August, but it still got the full Davis Garage Doors treatment.

Big door, little door, weird door… we’ve probably got you covered.

One From the DGD Archives

We also took a little trip down memory lane this month with an install from a couple summers ago that’s still hard to forget.

The summer heat was in full force, and the garage had a loft area that the door needed to high-lift over. It was one of those projects where you look at the space, scratch your head for a minute and then figure out how to make it happen.

A few years later, it’s still one for the books.

Okay… These Doors Deserve Their Own Section

We’ve installed a lot of beautiful garage doors, but these Garaga Vantage Plank doors are serious show-stoppers.

The Dark Acacia HD finish paired with tinted glass running down each section gives them a modern look while still bringing in the warmth of a wood-style finish.

The install also included an insulated Haas Flush door, another Garaga flush door, and three LiftMaster 2220L openers to finish it all off.

'

There are some jobs you finish and immediately know you’re going to be talking about them for a while…

This was definitely one of them.

On to September!

Ladders Up, Doors Down, Spirits High… Hats off to July!

Hopefully we don’t sound like a broken record, but it’s been busy, and we’re loving it! From new installations and service-truck upgrades to helping local families improve their homes and businesses, the crew has stayed hard at work across Ellensburg. We were also honored to place second in Kittitas County’s Best, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for and continues to support our family-owned business. July is always a great month, as we celebrated the Fourth of July (250!!!) with family at the Seattle Mariners ballpark. And what a game!! The Mariners beat the Blue Jays 11 to 0!!! Thank you to all our customers for your support so that we can give our children such awesome memories!

A Hot Week and a Great New Shop Project

The week of the 27th brought some serious heat to Ellensburg, but that didn’t stop our crew from showing up and getting the job done!

We were grateful for the opportunity to help an incredibly kind and hardworking local family with their new shop. Thank you for trusting us to be part of such an exciting project. We appreciate your hospitality and are proud to have helped bring your vision to life.

Fully Equipped for Commercial Service

Jenni and Sam’s work truck received an important upgrade with the addition of new ladders!

Davis Garage Doors now has two fully equipped service trucks ready to handle commercial garage door service, repairs, and installations throughout Ellensburg and the surrounding communities. These upgrades help our team arrive prepared, work efficiently, and provide dependable service for every project.

Another Garage Door Renovation in Ellensburg

Davis Garage Doors recently completed another impressive garage door renovation in Ellensburg.

The home’s old, non-insulated wooden doors were replaced with modern, insulated garage doors. The new doors improve energy efficiency, provide better protection from changing temperatures, and give the home a fresh, updated appearance.

A big thank-you to these wonderful customers for their hospitality and for choosing our team. We hope you enjoy your beautiful new garage doors and have a fantastic summer!

A Job Well Done

It’s always awesome to go back to jobs and see the project complete!!!!

What an awesome job in Easton done by Davis Garage Doors!

See you in August!!

Here’s what we’ve been up to!

A Fresh New Look in Ellensburg, Washington

This Ellensburg home got such a beautiful makeover. The old one-piece tilt-out garage door had done its job for a long time, but it was ready for a more modern replacement.

We were happy to help bring this home a fresh new look. Projects like this are always fun because the difference is immediate. A new garage door can completely change the feel of a home from the outside, and Jenni especially loves seeing those transformations come together.

Low Headroom Install in Roslyn

This wood shed in Roslyn, Washington needed a low headroom garage door setup, and this one turned out impressive.

Josh was able to make the installation work by mounting the tracks to the concrete, which took the right experience and attention to detail. The glass window design also brought in natural light, making the inside of the shed feel brighter while still giving the customer a great view to enjoy.

It was a unique project, and we were proud of how it came together.

Getting It Done Right

Sometimes a customer calls us after another company has tried more than once to get the job done and it still is not right. That was the case with this project.

Davis Garage Doors was able to step in and get things fixed with the quality and accuracy the customer needed. Now all that is left is for the customer to paint the sections, and the garage door panels will be back to matching again.

We always want our customers to feel confident that the job is done correctly the first time.

A Finished Garage Gym in Ellensburg

It is always great to go back to a job and see the finished space. This Ellensburg garage turned into the ultimate family gym, complete with a workout area, tennis court, and basketball hoop.

We were proud to be part of this project by installing high-lift tracks that helped move the garage doors up and out of the way. That extra clearance made a big difference and helped the family’s vision for the space come to life.

Projects like this are a good reminder that garage doors are not just about curb appeal. The right setup can completely change how a space works for everyday life.

Looking Back at Some Other June Installs

Behind the Business: Meet the Davis Family

We’re doing our monthly wrap-ups a little differently in June. This month, we’re kicking off a new blog series called Behind the Business, where we’ll share more about our business, our family, and what goes into running a family-owned business.

Behind the Business: Meet the Davis Family

This month, Josh Davis, owner of Davis Garage Doors, shares how he got started in the garage door industry, how the business has grown over the years, and what it’s been like working alongside his wife, Jenni. He also gives us a glimpse into life outside of work, from camping and fishing to Mariners games and raising their kids.

For Josh and Jenni, Davis Garage Doors is more than a business. It’s something they’ve worked hard to build while staying focused on what matters most: family, hard work, and serving their customers well.

Meet Josh Davis

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your role at Davis Garage Doors?

My name is Josh Davis, and I’m the owner of Davis Garage Doors.

How did you get started in the garage door business?

I got started in the garage door industry by answering an ad in the Tacoma Tribune. Six months later, the owner at Ace Doors called me, and that was the beginning of my career.

What were you doing before you entered this industry?

Before getting into garage doors, I was roofing. I had also just gotten out of the Air Force, and that experience helped shape the way I work today.

Working Together as a Family

What inspired your family to build Davis Garage Doors into what it is today?

Davis Garage Doors started before Jenni and I were together, but things have run very smoothly since she became involved. Having her as part of the business has made a big difference, and we’ve been able to continue growing while keeping family at the center of what we do.

What is it like working together as husband and wife?

Like any husband and wife working together, there have definitely been hard days. But overall, it has been a good thing for us and for the business.

We joke with customers sometimes that I’ve had to fire Jenni a few times, but she just keeps showing back up!

Looking Ahead: the Future of Davis Garage Doors

What is your vision for your family business?

We want to find the right person to take a lead role in our installations so Jenni and I can focus more on sales and service. We have grown enough to keep help around, and as we come into better economic times, we will be looking for more.

I hope one of my sons and daughter gets involved one day as well.

Life Beyond the Doors

What is something outside of work that your family enjoys doing together?

We love camping, fishing, and going to Mariners games.

What’s something you’d like your customers to know about the Davis family?

We work hard, play hard, and are committed to raising strong humans.

How do you balance family time with the demands of running a business?

We do our best to stick to company hours, Monday through Friday. I do still answer the phone seven days a week and sometimes handle sales on weekends, but I’m grateful to do it.

Balance is the key, and most important is our children.

See what our customers are saying about us!

We had our garage doors replaced with them as we had new motors installed the year prior and our old doors were not handling it well.
Davis did not install the motors, another company had, the company who installed the motors did a poor job and wires were all over the place, openers uneven, motors were coming off the wall.
Josh came in and out in new tracks and the new doors AND fixed all the wiring and openers the other company had done. It’s looks amazing, works so amazing, it’s a job well done and work to be proud of.
Honest and dependable someone we would highly recommend!

Josh Davis is incredible. They fixed the previous instal team’s work and did an incredible job. They were honest, hard working and did high quality work

Dave G

On time and quickly completed the tasks. A pleasure to work with.

March Wrap-Up and Spring Prep for Your Garage Door

March came and flew by. Can you beleive it’s April already? This month, we had a great time getting ready for the Home and Garden Show and really enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new people along the way. We’re so thankful for the support from our customers, friends, family, and community.

We also had the chance to work on some great projects this month, including a beautiful garage door upgrade in Snoqualmie Pass and a really impressive high-lift door in Ellensburg. It’s always rewarding to help homeowners improve their homes in ways that are both practical and beautiful.

Believe it or not, April is here and spring is getting underway. It’s a great time to think about garage door maintenance and updates. After a long winter, a little attention can make a big difference in keeping your door working safely and smoothly.

We know we say it every month, but it’s because we mean it! We truly appreciate every customer who trusts us with their home. Serving this community means a lot to us, and we’re committed to providing the kind of honest, dependable service people can count on.

Spring Maintenance Tips for Homeowners

As we head into spring, it’s a good time to give your garage door a little attention after the wear and tear of winter. There are a few simple things homeowners can safely keep an eye on, but it’s important to remember that garage doors have heavy moving parts under a lot of tension. If something looks off, always put safety first and leave the work to a trained professional.

1. Check for visible wear

Take a quick look at the rollers, hinges, tracks, and other visible parts for rust, damage, or anything that seems loose. If you notice broken parts or anything unusual, do not try to force the door. Garage door springs and other tension components can be extremely dangerous, and repairs should always be left to trained professionals to avoid serious injury.

2. Clear out debris

Leaves, dirt, and buildup can collect around the tracks over time. Keeping the area clean can help your door run more smoothly, but avoid taking apart or adjusting any hardware yourself.

3. Pay attention to how the door moves

If your garage door seems noisy, uneven, or slower than usual, that can be a sign something is not working the way it should.

4. Check the weather seal

Spring is a great time to check the bottom seal and weather stripping around your garage door. If it’s cracked, worn, or pulling away, it may be time for replacement to help keep out moisture, dirt, and pests. With the wide range of weather we see here in Central Washington, keeping those seals in good shape can make a real difference.

5. Schedule a professional tune-up with Davis Garage Doors (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

The safest and smartest thing you can do is have your garage door inspected by a trained technician. Springs, cables, and other key parts can be dangerous to handle without proper experience. If something doesn’t seem right, Davis Garage Doors is just a phone call away and ready to help before a small issue turns into a bigger problem.

New Month, Fresh Feedback

Great crew with in time installations

Eric

They were quick to respond to my outreach and also quick to schedule me in. Very nice people and the work was A+. Would highly recommend!

Lisa Y

Josh is awesome! Responded same day to help me get my car out and secure my garage. The bid was fast and fair and they were in and out in the same day with the install. I hope I don’t back my car into the door again, but if I do I’m calling Davis Garage Doors!
